Live production crew are the unseen but essential backbone of the music events that we all enjoy, but these roles can often take their toll on those involved. Independent figures have shown one in six roadies commit suicide, over eight times the national average!

The aim of Roady4Roadies is to bring public awareness to the diverse range of highly technical and creative skills required to make our concert dreams come true, and raise desperately needed funds to help those in crisis.

It is open to the public and industry alike, with all profits going to Support Act.

The Roady4Roadies walk - A leisurely walk from Station Pier along the Middle Park and Albert Park foreshores to the Palais Theatre for a family day of fun and entertainment.

Entry includes a free t-shirt, water and sunscreen provided along the way and BBQ, prizes and Roady Games for the kids! The day concludes with live entertainment.

In Melbourne, the line-up at the Palais Theatre will be Mark Seymour, Dave Graney & the mistLY, J.R. Reyne, Sisters Doll and Jarosite.  Doors open at 12.30pm, with show starting at 12.40pm and running through to 3.20pm.  Tickets are just $20 at the door. 

Melbourne Crewathlon - The Crewathlon is a ‘fun’ activity and friendly competition between local workers. They encourage production houses, studios, theatres, function/convention centres and  festival workers to take part. Prizes are awarded to individual competitors with the State Trophy presented to the winning team.

The Crewathlon highlights some of the many day-to-day skills needed to work on a live event. They demonstrate the high-level of ability required to work in this career.

  • Cable Coiling Comp. 2 team members only. Fastest team wins.
  • Obstacle Course. Pushing a road case around an obstacle course.
  • Drum Kit Set-up. Setting up a basic drum kit from scratch. The the kit will then be played by a professional drummer. If bits falls off or over, the team will incur a time penalty.
  • PA Set-up. Setting up a basic PA. The PA will be used by a performer. If it doesn’t work, the team will incur a time penalty for each part that isn’t working.
  • Guestlist Challenge. All members of the team have to get past a door person & into your gig. Fastest combined time of all them members wins.

Roady4Roadies is being staged by a voluntary team of Australia’s leading live production personnel and industry professionals. All proceeds go directly to Support Act.
